Overview

The G.R.I.P. OmniTool is a computerized multi-tool, mounted on the right forearm of your space suit. It provides a great deal of information, allows access to the game menu, and can even make a network connection to a device, to allow your suit to control in an emergency. Be advised that external devices can quickly drain your suit power when your G.R.I.P. is connected to them, so do so wisely! It also performs a number of useful functions you can access by pressing the 'Tab' key, and some functions can be accessed directly by pressing a hotkey. The home screen of the OmniTool has six functions, and additional function are nested within these as described below.

One of these may appear for each nested level of menu you delve into. Consequently, you can navigate back as many levels as you wish by choosing the correct icon.

Device Manager

(Hotkey C) This menu has three nested function and is likely the most powerful function of the G.R.I.P. OnmiTool. It will let you connect directly to the device you are pointing at and interact with it, providing you have the permission to do so. You can deactivate or activate the device, manage permissions of who can interact with the device, or if there is no power to the device; connect the tool power supply to it and use it. The power available to the tool is shown in a bar graph to the right, and once depleted takes some time to recharge.

  • Manage access to the device
  • Deactivate the device
  • Select a device by pointing at it
    • Connect to the device
      • Activate or use the device
    • Disconnect from the device

Status

(Hotkey V) This menu has two nested functions, Ship Status to read relevant vessel data, and Diplomacy, which will show your reputation with the various factions.

  • Ship Status: Similar screen and functions as found in the Wall Terminal device, you can view ship information such as sensors, armor, fuel, shield and oxygen values. You can check power groups, life support and pilots on-board.
  • Diplomacy: (Hotkey X) This brings up a small window actually labeled 'Factions' that shows a bar graph display with all the faction names, and a colored bar to indicate your current standing with each faction. Completing missions for a faction will raise your standing with them, while failing to complete missions and hacking or shooting up their property will lower it. You can click on a bar and the 'Advanced' button to get more detailed information about your reputation with the selected faction. If you should end up with negative faction and you would like to repair it, you can click the "Bounty" button to pay the listed price for One Rank of improvement - that is one segment on the bar graph!

Message Centre

(Hotkey M) When you receive a message, a tone will be played and if it is mission related, you may also receive a popup window. To open your Message Centre either press the 'M' key, or press 'Tab' and navigate to Message Centre in your G.R.I.P. You can move around to navigate the messages in your inbox and many will have usable links in them to open, accept crew invites, delete etc. Press 'M', 'Tab', or navigate to one of the "home" icons to back out of the Message Centre.

Ship Map

This function will show your location and facing on the current deck of the ship you are on, and the map will scroll and update with you as you move.

  • You can click and drag the map around as found in the Wall Terminal

Ship Access

This selection will only be visible when you are the owner of the current vessel. It has two nested functions which will allow you to create, manage or delete user permission level groups, and set what types of permissions each group is granted aboard your vessel.

  • Groups
    • Default groups
    • Add or Remove group
  • Permissions
    • Choose permitted actions for the selected group.

Fleet & Crew

This selection has four nested functions which display as conditions dictate. Initially, you will see the option to create a crew or fleet. After creating one or both, the selection changes to let you manage your crew or fleet; inviting or removing members.

  • Create Crew
    • Crew Options
      • Add member
      • Remove member
  • Create Fleet
    • Fleet Options
      • Add member
      • Remove member

MENU

Here you have three selections to choose from; Exit to menu, Respawn or Return to game. If you respawn, your character will appear to die were you are standing, and you will have to choose a location to start again after a few seconds have elapsed. Available locations for respawns vary by circumstance.

  • Exit to menu
  • Respawn (commit suicide)
  • Return to game

Health & O2 Bars

Direct injury or suffocation are currently the only threats to health. Your red health bar will drop, the only way to recover health is to eat a Food Cartridge. The green O2 bar will drop when the current room O2 quits functioning. This may be caused by running out of Oxygen, a plugged (full) Carbon filter, or combat damage to the vent in that room.

  • Red health bar - 8 segments
  • Green O2 bar - 8 segments

Pilot Name, U-nits & Time

The lowermost line of the OmniTool shows your Steam display name, the VaulTron U-nits U-nits balance in your account and the current time.

  • Pilot name (Steam)
  • U-nits balance
  • Local time
